Video/data collection, 03:47, 2013
The video is compiled from an archive of various files that have been found by digging around in the recycle bins of publicly available computers.
During one year and a half I visited several internet cafes, libraries, printing centres and other places with publicly available computers and collected an impressive archive of photos, documents, invoices, video and music files that were meant for destruction. I made a video by mixing these materials with documentary shots. With the use of one of the basic principles of recycling – creating something new from old things – the viewers are invited to think about the existing vast amount and chaos of information, the possibilities and borders of perception, data protection and simply incredible information that has been found in public recycle bins.
